BULOVA 221 ACCUTRON 1973

The smallest of all tuning forks the 221 was developed specifically for ladies watches or slim mens watches. The Accutron technology was squeezed as much as possible by applying an angled tuning fork to make enough room for a medium size battery (no longer made so a spacer is currently required). Further simplifications required removing the date and sweeping second hand and using worm-gears in the gear train to effectively reduce and transmit tuning fork vibrations.

All this makes it probably the most complicated of all Accutrons. The index and pawl fingers need to be adjusted manually if necessary and are tipped with very fine flat jewels (or maybe not as they are hard to see?)
